Recycling Project 0006

I've tried to fill out any gaps in the background with some fairly nondescript boxes. Thought I'd share this incredible moment with you all!

Zoë Selenas Work 0001

I realized yesterday that my inspiration for starting this blog in the first place was due to a friend of mine called Zoë. She is studying animation in Canada at the moment and I'd like to shamelessly plug her blog. It can be found here and features some really incredible pre-animation drawing assignments. Her drawing of the human form is just amazing, as you will see. I can't stress enough how much I look forward to seeing her work moving. For now you shall have to sate your appetite with her hand drawn work.
In other news, more updates shall be forthcoming, so keep your eyes peeled. I have a video I need to upload to youtube detailing the recycling truck in operation. Thankyou to everyone who's shown an interest in my work too!

Recycling Project 0005

Here is the machine responsible for creating new cans. The rolled steel metal (or sheets in this case) go under the machine, the conveyor will stop, and the machine lowers telescopically at a rapid pace. The metal sheet or panel is then covered by the machine, steam or whatnot escapes from the sides and presto! A new can is formed. I'm still not 100% about the bulls-eye on the floor, but it'll stay for now.

Recycling Project 0004

Here's a little animation I did testing out how the rocket launch pad might look when I get around to completing its scene. The purpose behind its existence is to demonstrate a statistic regarding how much energy is saved when things are recycled rather than thrown away and new objects having to be created from raw materials. Apparently if we recycled only a little more it would save enough energy to launch several rockets into space every year! Incidentally, here is my Youtube profile.

Recycling Project 0003

Just a quick update showing the newest section I'm working on. This is where aluminium cans go to be recycled, and rolled out. Also in this scene will be a machine for turning the newly rolled steel into shiny new cans. Not exactly true to life, but it's just to get the message across. Here is the steel roller itself (with added safety cones!)

The Cautionary Tales 0001

Well, it's been a little while since the last update, I'll try and get more pictures on in the coming days. I just wanted to mention a project that my friend has been working on, and that I too shall be working on in the coming months. It's a comedy animated series entitled "The Cautionary Tales of Esteban Sanchez and Others..".
My friend has been busy writing for it for some time now, you can get more information here. We'd both really appreciate input on the project, any opinions, thoughts or ideas would be fantastic.
Anyhow, back to the polygons!

Recycling Project 0002

Just a quick post of a wireframe view. This is of the same scene as below. This whole scene is actually where cans (steel and aluminium) are brought in from the left (through the dark tunnel) and are then sorted by a magnet. After the sorting they are heat-gunned (or in this case blasted with an industrial scale hair dryer!) to remove their paint/laquer. Then comes the fun part, trying to make the act of these happy chappies getting melted into glowing goop a happy event. I figured I'll go with smiley faces, diving board action and rubber ducks. After this they'll get sucked down a pipe and into another section of twisted pipes and such (which is actually detailed at the bottom of the previous post).

Recycling Project 0001

Well, here goes. My name is James Clarke, and I hail from sunny England. I'm currently residing in the Midlands. Anyhow, I decided I'd create a little blog to display the kind of stuff I'm working on at the moment. Following this little blurb are a series of images from an animation about recycling I'm working on. The animation itself will be targeted at school children between the ages of 6 - 10 (approximately) and will cover a variety of aspects concerning the recycling of many types of materials. Any criticism or comments about any of my work would be greatly appreciated. Also any suggestions would be very helpful. Anyhow, I'll leave you to the rather massive lump of images!
